In March 2017, youth and adults will be going to Costa Rica on a mission trip to work with the Rice and Beans Ministries. While on this mission trip, we will have the opportunity to do VBS in the schools and construction on various homes in the area. The most rewarding part is when we deliver food bags to families in their homes. We do not just deliver food bags to people; we also pray with and for each family. Each food bag can feed a family of four for a week.
The 2017 Costa Rica Mission Team needs your support through your prayers, donations and by purchasing a food bag.
Each food bag cost $12.00 and contains:
- 2 kilos (4 lbs) of rice
- 2 kilos (4 lbs) of beans
- 1 kilo (2 lbs) of corn meal
- 1 powdered milk for two gallons of milk
On the last mission trip to Costa Rica in 2015, we had a team of 41 youth and adults. On this mission trip we spent four solid days in a row digging through solid rock, (all by hand), to help construct a foundation for a Sunday school building. The VBS Team visited four schools and shared God’s word through skits and activities to 100-300 students per school in four days. We also filled/assembled, (by hand), 850 bags of food; it totaled 8,500 lbs. Our team of 41 people spent four days going door to door in very poor, and underdeveloped areas of Costa Rica, handing out the food and visiting with the people in their homes. We estimate that we had the opportunity to share God's word and pray with 5,000 people though VBS, construction, and the food bags.
