WOW Life Enrichment Classes

All classes meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday nights January 11 through April 11. There will be no programming on February 22 due to Ash Wednesday and March 14 due to Spring Break. WOW programming and dinner follow the Shelby County School Inclement Weather closings.

Prayer Begins with Relationships

Connection and communication are vital in relationships, but what about in your relationship with God? Is it more of a duty than a delight? This study is designed to deepen your personal conversations with God through prayer. This class will use the book Prayer Begins with Relationships by Cynthia Hyle Bezek. Meets in the Conference Room in the office suite. 


2012 General Conference Issues & Structure of the UMC

Selena, lead delegate for the laity from our Conference to General and Jurisdictional Conferences in 2012, will discuss key issues facing General Conference, how the legislative process works, and where to find accurate information. Barry will discuss the organizational structure of the UMC and how it begins at the local church level and then relates to the Jurisdictional and General Conferences. Meets in SAM Suite Room 100.


Ballroom Dancing

Women's Study - "Faithful, Abundant, True: Three Lives Going Deeper Still"

This is a six-week study focusing on sessions led by Beth Moore, Priscilla Shirer and Kay Arthur, and is designed to give women practical ways to dig deeper into scripture to enrich their walk with the Creator. Meets in Room 101 B/C.

Writing from the Heart

Express yourself with the written word! This class will cover writing prayers, devotions, Sunday School lessons, memoirs, and beginning short stories. Meets in the Conference Room in the office suite.


Scrapbooking
Facilitator: Kelly Burriss

Learn scrapbooking techniques and take on small projects. Lessons will include layouts for Christmas, Easter, spring and more, as well as information on creating recipe albums and designing your own journals! Meets in Room 101 B/C.


11 Indispensable Relationships You Can't Be Without

Are you a fiercely independent person, boldly going through life not needing help from anyone else? I didn't think so. Whether we admit it or not, we all need the influence and strengths of other people to complete our journey. Using well-known author, preacher and theologian Leonard Sweet's book, 11 Indispensable Relationships You Can't Be Without, we will ponder the influence others have on us as mentors and friends, as well as strangers and enemies. Meets in SAM Suite Room 100.


Discovering God's Nature

Who is God and how does God operate in our world? These questions will be at the heart of this course. Participants will watch a different video each week that speaks to an aspect of God's nature, such as God's unconditional love, God's answers to our prayers, masculine and feminine imagery used to describe God, and the ability for humans to have a relationship with God. This is a discussion-based course with optional articles provided for between class reading. Meets in Room 109/110.

Knitting for Missions

Support ongoing mission projects within the life of the church through knitting. Listen to speakers as they share about ongoing knitting ministries. Beginners and all skill levels are welcome and our group is open to the community. Meets in the Mission Center across from the Common Cup.


Weight Watchers

Did you make a New Years resolution to lose weight? CUMC is offering a 12-week Weight Watchers class, with one week free (13 weeks total)! The cost is $120 for new Weight Watchers members and $110 for current/lifetime Weight Watchers members. Check it out the first night and decide whether you'd like to do the program; there's no commitment until the second class! Forms are available HERE or at the Reception Desk. Meets in Room 101A.


Beginner Level Spanish

Learn beginner level Spanish this semester! Do you travel for work, teach, go on mission trips, or just want to learn a new language for fun? This term we will explore basic Spanish grammar and conversation. Learn to communicate with others and have fun in the process! Melanie Morton is a high school Spanish teacher at Briarcrest. She is fluent in Spanish and has a passion for teaching foreign languages. Meets in Room 105.
