THE PRINCESS PROJECT
Every little girl is a princess, the daughter of the King of Kings! The goal of the Princess Project is to provide a new dress to little girls in need. We want the girls to know that they are loved and cherished. Each dress is prayed over and a prayer is included with the dress. We have sent dresses to Reelfoot Rural Ministries, Rio Bravo, Haiti, Belize and the United Methodist Neighborhood Center.
The UMW gather in the servery the fourth Tuesday, January through April and August through October from 9 - 11:30am and again from 6:30 - 8:30pm. Everyone who has a passion for helping little girls and who has an interest in sewing is welcome. You do NOT need to be a seamstress! Whether you can cut fabric, press open a seam, sew on a button OR use a sewing machine, we would love to have you join us. It is not necessary to attend both sessions. Please come as your time allows.
UNITED METHODIST NEIGHBORHOOD CENTERS
Our UMW supports the UMNC throughout the year in several ways: by putting together Easter baskets filled with toys and treats for the children at the Miriam Daycare Center; preparing Thanksgiving food baskets for the families served by the UMNC and providing gifts of clothing and toys for families in need at Christmas.
METHODIST HOSPITAL AUXILIARY
We support the auxiliary through monies and service. Donations of travel sized toiletries and costume jewelry are taken to the hospital periodically. Our members make tray favors that are distributed at the hospitals to patients throughout the year.
The UMW supports this group by collecting paper products, household cleaning products and bingo prizes for the senior residents at their facilities. These supplies are delivered periodically throughout the year.
DOVE HEALTH AND REHAB
On the fourth Sunday of each month church services are held at Dove by Circle members and a CUMC pastor. We gather with the residents to sing and visit and then the pastor delivers a short message of peace and hope - a blessing for all of us.
COLLIERVILLE FOOD PANTRY
During the months of May and November the UMW assists at the food pantry helping to stock, re-shelf, pack and distribute food to clients....another rewarding experience!
UMW READING PROGRAM
The UMW has their own library of books! Our Reading Program encourages members to think critically about current issues through an annual selection of member-reviewed books. It offers and excellent opportunity to deepen your spirituality and to broaden your understanding of the UMW mission work.
The Reading Program is a study opportunity, but the hope is for it to lead to action. The Program encourages United Methodist Women members to read books from each of these five areas: Nurturing for Community, Social Action, Leadership Development, Spiritual Growth and Education for Mission.
