Adults
Foundations Class - Ministry Center Room 103
This class is an active group of adults who enjoy fellowship and participating in events. They enjoy friendship and their faith in God. The teacher chooses the subject matter and leads the group discussion.
New Beginnings Class - Ministry Center Room 101 B/C
Dive into the Bible and explore places, facts, people and stories that are pillars of our faith. Led by Danny Barnwell and Jay Jeffries, this class is also connected to Breakfast with Santa, the Ronald McDonald House, St. John’s Soup Kitchen, Reelfoot Ministries, Sponsor a Family at Christmas, Youth in Missions, Rio Bravo and Itza Buck.
Parables Class - Ministry Center Room 109/110
Facilitated by Bob Vornbrock and John Bonk, this exciting class will engage you in book discussions on Biblical and contemporary issues that affect our daily Christian walk. Join them not only for study, but also for outreach programs they support such as St. John’s Soup Kitchen, Reelfoot Ministries, Church Health Center, Food Pantry, Collierville Project Graduation, Rio Bravo and Hogar Montaña.
Sojourners Class - Ministry Center Room 105
If you like in-depth Bible discussions, this is the class for you. Led by Bill Daniels, the Sojourners follow the Adult Bible Studies resource as a guide to a better understanding of Scripture. They also support ministries such as St. John’s Soup Kitchen, Rio Bravo and Holy Community After School Program.
Children
Elementary Sunday School (grades K-5)
Children will meet by grade level in the following rooms: Kindergarten, 1st grade and 2nd grade will meet in Room 15; 3rd grade, 4th grade and 5th grade will meet in Room 19.
Children’s Church
After the Children’s Time during our worship service, children age 3 and older may be dismissed to Children's Church for an exciting learning time. Located in Rooms 32/34.
Preschool Sunday School
Two and three-year-olds (potty trained, please) meet in Room 12. Four-year-olds meet in Room 13.
Nursery (beginning at birth)
Our Nursery is located in rooms 6 and 8 on Sunday mornings to provide care for your children, birth through age three, during Sunday School and Worship.
Couples & Singles
20’s/30’s - Ministry Center Conference Room
This class is for all types of young adults: college students, graduates, military, working professionals, singles and others. Led by Kristofer Roof, this class will study the weekly lectionary texts and discover how different Scripture passages are in conversation with one another. Both regular churchgoers and recent newcomers are welcome to attend. Simply bring yourself and invite a friend!
Cornerstone Class - Ministry Center Room 101 A
Join a dynamic group of people, both married and single, who alternate between studies of the Bible and studies that help us apply biblical principles in fulfilling our many roles as parents, employees, care givers, and spouses. The class supports Rio Bravo, UM Neighborhood Centers, and has raised funds for missions by holding the wildly successful Cornerstone Team Trivia Night.
Emmaus Class - Ministry Center Room 106
A great place to be if you are either married or single, the Emmaus Class engages in-depth discussions of how to apply Biblical teachings in the everyday life. This class enjoys meeting for quarterly socials, ladies and guys nights out, picnics, tailgate parties and more. They fully support our church’s mission programs, the St. John’s Soup Kitchen and outreach efforts in Fayette County.
Covenant Class - Ministry Center Room 104
This class will explore how we as Christians can best serve God through our families, our relationships and our jobs by using short-term Bible studies and the weekly sermon texts. Led by Roy Thrash, this group is made up by young parents, young couples, working professionals and singles in their 30's.
Wesley Class - Ministry Center Room 102
Comprised of married couples with children ranging in age from newborn to high school, this class will give you tools on how to live as a Christian in today’s world. Led by David Dufour, this class incorporates video studies and is active in missions with Rio Bravo, helping families in need, Thanksgiving rolls fund raiser and also enjoys a social life together by going bowling, hosting Halloween and Christmas parties, hay rides, girls' nights out and swimming parties.
Senior Adults
Agape Class - Ministry Center Room 100
As its name suggests, this is a warm and friendly class that enjoys praying, studying and socializing together. We are led by a rotating team of teachers. The Bible is central to the inspirational discussions on topics that relate to Christianity today. We support mission projects both locally and internationally.
Christian Fellowship Class - Ministry Center Room 22
This class enjoys lively discussions led by several teachers. They support the UM Health Center, St. Jude Hospital and Rio Bravo.
Ladies Bible Class - Bride’s Room by the Sanctuary
If you are a lady who loves the Lord and would like to know more about Him, join the Ladies Bible Class and learn how to apply His teachings into your life and into the lives of your family. This class also helps with the 1st Sunday offerings and wherever there is a need, especially during Christmas.
Open Door Class Dining - Children's Ministry Center Dining Room
Spirit-filled, fun loving class of "more mature" adults who love the Lord and each other, this class follows the "Adult Bible Studies," an official UMC resource. Led by a team of church leaders, Open Door engages in mission projects and raises resources for charities in need.
Sonrisers Class - Ministry Center Room 107/108
Want to know more about the prophets in the Bible? If so, Sonrisers can help. Join them as they journey through the prophetic books and learn more about those whom God intimately used to speak to His people. Also, join them in supporting Hogar Montaña, the Page Robbins Alzheimer’s Center and other mission projects as needed.
Special Needs
Loving Hearts - Mission Center (in the Ministry Center)
If you have a family member who is 13 years old or older who has a special need, this class is designed for them. Our church has a team of caring brothers and sisters who are called for this ministry and would love to have your loved one join them.
Youth Spiritual Growth Classes
Confirmation - Youth Center Room 200
Confirmation class is a nine-month program (August-May) for sixth-graders and other non-confirmed youth, during which they are nurtured and led through the components of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Confirmation will meet in the Youth Center on Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Confirmation runs through May of 2012.
7th Grade
"Interesting People of the Bible," led by Abby Reed and Amanda Thomas. Meets in Room 204.
8th Grade
Delving Into the World with video and discussion led by John DeLockery and Craig Smithers. Meets in Rooms 206/207.
9th Grade
The Christian Life: Helping You Prepare to Live Out Your Faith, led by JD Peeples. Meets in Rooms 208/209.
10th Grade
Diving Into God's Word, led by Davis Sweatt. Meets in Room 205.
11th & 12th Grade
TRUTH: Right, Wrong and Everyday Living. Lively discussion-based class led by Melynda Sammons and George Lucas. Meets in Room 201.
10th-12th Grade Options
Disciple I: Led by Shirley Roach, meets in Upstairs Conference Room.
Disciple II: Led by Bob Konsowitz and Deborah Murdock. Meets in Room 202.
Girls' Study of the Song of Solomon: Led by Margaret Lawrence and Sue Sullivan. Meets in Room 203.
