Project Transformation in Memphis is now a reality! Thanks be to God! The inaugural class of Project Transformation interns serving in Memphis arrived on Friday, May 27 (photo attached). Already, they have toured the city, learned conflict management with Donna DiClementi at Methodist Healthcare, and worshipped with their site churches (Longstreet UMC or Centenary UMC). They then spent four days in Nashville with the Nashville and Murfreesboro PT intern communities completing their training and headed back to Memphis on June 1 to finish preparing for programming to begin at the two site churches on Monday, June 6.
Behind the scenes, things have been very smooth. Christian Brothers University where the interns are being housed has provided a great set up, and our partner churches have been extremely supportive. Their biggest need right now is for program supplies (arts/craft supplies, recreation equipment, healthy snacks). Currently, their supply room is pretty empty. The supply wish list is attached. Please ask your Sunday School classes, UMW or youth groups at your church to consider purchasing some of the supplies needed or to provide a financial donation so that supplies may be purchased on their behalf. The supply list is attached. This is an immediate need! If your groups can help with supplies or financial donations, please contact Keller Hawkins, PT Summer Director in Memphis at firstname.lastname@example.org or 615-810-9620 to make arrangements for pickup or a time to drop them off at Longstreet, Centenary or CBU.
Finally, please pray for the PT summer interns, the children, and the church families that are hosting, reading with the children, and providing meals for the interns at night. God changes lives through Project Transformation! Thanks so much for all your efforts to make PT come alive in Memphis!
