JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

The person in this position should be a committed Christian Disciple.  Under direct supervision, this position provides guidance for programming and ministry activities that meet the spiritual needs and help the middle school, high school, and college students of Collierville UMC grow in their discipleship of Jesus Christ.  All Student Ministry efforts will be developed and guided by our vision, “Reaching out to transform lives by extending God’s love to all,” and consistent with the core values of CUMC.

Essential Functions

  1. Provide overall direction and administration for all student ministries of CUMC.
  2. Chairperson for the Student Advisory Council and Adult Team of Volunteers.
  3. Be responsible for the ongoing recruitment, training, empowering, and evaluating of student ministry staff and volunteers.
  4. Coordinate all structured student ministry activities with high capacity volunteers, including but not limited to Sundays and Wednesdays.
  5. Provide direction and coordination for all special events for students and their families, including but not limited to Confirmation, mission trips, Discovery Weekend, and missional fundraisers.
  6. Teach and recruit others who can teach the Christian faith as understood through the doctrinal standards of the United Methodist Church.
  7. Select and approve all curriculum used for Sunday school and other programming for these age groups.
  8. Be responsible for the compliance of the ministry with regard to safe sanctuaries training and execution.
  9. Serve as a staff liaison to assigned work areas and committees.
  10. Prepares budget requests and monitors expenditures of the student ministries.
  11. Monitor space, equipment, needs, and repairs in the student ministries area.
  12. Other duties as needed and assigned by direct supervisor or Senior Pastor.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor degree and 7-10 years of experience in a similar or related field.

Associate Director of Modern Worship

SUMMARY

The person in this position should be a committed Christian Disciple who possesses strong musical and organizational skills.  Under the direct supervision of the Director of Worship (Modern), this position assists in the utilization of music and other arts to lead the congregation in glorifying God through worship and offers support and encouragement for individuals to express and grow in their Christian faith by offering and using their musical gifts for Christ through the mission and ministry of the Church. This position requires a solid understanding of music theory as it relates to the transposition, arrangement, and preparation of worship music and proficiency in instrumental and vocal music performance.  This position also requires a person who holds a strong interest in leading worship arts and is willing to serve, work with others in a team ministry setting, and effectively communicate with all types of vocalists and instrumentalists.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Assist in Modern Worship service planning.
  2. Assist in the selection of musical selections.
  3. Assist in the writing and transposing of music charts, uploading charts, MP3’s, and tutorials to Planning Center.
  4. Assist in the creation and design of pro presenter lyrics.
  5. Give band direction in regards to form, arrangement, and parts of songs.
  6. Rehearse for worship services and special events.
  7. Occasionally lead the worship services and worship team rehearsals in the absence of the Director of Modern Worship.
  8. Update Planning Center with the worship schedule, as needed.
  9. Assist in locating and procuring volunteer and contract musicians.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

This is a 20 hour part-time position.  Days and hours of work will be worked out and agreed upon with the Director of Worship (Modern).

  2. Two or more years of experience in a similar or related field

Sound Technician – Modern Worship

SUMMARY

The person in this position should be a committed Christian Disciple.  Under the direct supervision of the Director of Modern (Contemporary) this position provides technical assistance and leadership in the contemporary worship service at Collierville UMC seeking to use and optimize technical resources to enhance the worship experience and convey the message of Jesus Christ.  Deals with a diverse group of members and visitors as well as internal contacts at all levels of the church.  Independent judgement is required to plan, prioritize and organize diversified workloads.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Assist with the design and implementation of all sound technical elements of contemporary worship services in consultation with the Director of Worship (Modern) including: working the iPad, sound board, mic setup, battery checks, sound checks (individuals, handhelds and speakers), monitor checks, etc.
  2. Assist in the training and equipping of volunteers for ministry responsibilities in sound arts in worship and for special events.
  3. Assist with the maintenance of the technical equipment.
  4. Other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or the Senior Pastor.

  1. High school diploma.
  2. Advanced training and certification in technical worship arts preferred.
  3. 3 years of experience in a similar or related field.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

The person in this position should be a committed Christian Disciple.  Under the direct supervision of the Finance Administrator this position assists the Finance Administrator with accounting procedures and responsibilities, assists the Executive Pastor with maintaining and disbursing human resource materials, and is our resource person with Shelby Systems. They work with a diverse group of members and visitors as well as internal contacts at all levels of the church.  Independent judgement is required to plan, prioritize and organize diversified workloads.

Essential Functions

  1. Pay invoices by verifying transaction information, obtaining authorization of payment and preparing disbursements on a weekly basis
  2. Provide support to program ministries financial needs with month end activity reports
  3. Maintain cash ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions
  4. Prepare and make deposits to the bank, minimum of Monday & Friday
  5. Assist the Finance Administrator as needed with bank account reconciliation
  6. Files sales tax monthly for the Common Cup
  7. Provide backup for Facility Use Management including but not limited to : scheduling events in the event management system and setting or adjusting HVAC system
  8. Resolve account discrepancies by working with vendors, investigation documentation and issuing stop payment and/or adjustments
  9. Monitor and reconcile Balance Sheet accounts monthly

This is a part-time hourly position of approximately 24 hours per week..  Days and hours of work are negotiable.

Required Education and Experience

  2. Five Years of accounting/finance experience
  3. Knowledge of church software data bases and/or Shelby Systems

The person in this position should be a committed Christian Disciple.  Under the direct supervision of the Director of Worship (Traditional) provides effective communications both internally and externally to inform the church congregation and the public of the news in the church, to guide the strategy for all communications, website, public relations messages, and collateral to consistently articulate the mission and ministry of Collierville United Methodist Church.

Essential Functions (Graphic Designer/Art Director)

1.     Work with all areas of ministry to design and develop print materials, website, social media, press releases, and TV screen slides

2.     Works with the Communications Assistant to compile and submit weekly electronic newsletters, periodic mass emails, and help maintain database of subscribers

3.     Keep Communications Manual up to date and ensure that staff and church leadership understand its procedures

4.     Oversee photography of special events of the church

5.     Assist Audio Visual staff in creating, taping and editing of videos (Duties should fall primarily on AV Coordinator

6.     Other special assignments and duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or Senior Pastor

Secondary Functions

1.     Work closely with the staff leadership to provide a marketing strategy for the church

2.     Submit yearly budget for advertising and communications

3.     Assist and advise Task Teams, to include Communications, Audio Visual, and Records & History.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position.  Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.

Occasionally, position needed for evening hours and weekends for video production.

Required Education and Experience

1.     Four-year degree in graphic design, marketing, public relations, advertising, communications or equivalent experience

2.     Video Production experience preferred
